All during the 2022-23 academic year, the Northern Virginia Community College athletic department is celebrating 10 seasons in the NJCAA. This week Nighthawk athletics us showcasing some of the best team moments and accomplishments.
The second NOVA team moments and accomplishment athletics is highlighting during the week is the Nighthawks volleyball teams two NJCAA Region 20 championships. NOVA captured its first title in 2014 and did it again in 2018.
The 2014 team finished the season 22-10 and won 10 of the last 11 going into the NJCAA National Championship Tournament. The 2018 Nighthawks, meanwhile, were two under 500 at 10-12 and then won seven straight before bowing out of the national tournament.
Somya Leskanich led NOVA's offense in 2014 with 268 kills, while Brittany Connatser pounded down 382 kills for the 2018 Nighthawks.
