W&OD TRAIL SUSPECT FACES ADDITIONAL CHARGES

W&OD TRAIL SUSPECT FACES ADDITIONAL CHARGES

A 42-year-old Herndon man is facing eight charges following a series of incidents along and near the Washington and Old Dominion Trail. Detectives assigned to our Fugitive Track and Apprehension Unit received information that Juan Rodriguez Alfaro had an outstanding warrant for attempted rape and sexual assault for an incident that occurred in November in Suffolk County, New York. Detectives believed Rodriguez Alfaro was also associated with recent assaults and indecent exposures that occurred on and near the W&OD Trail. The Fugitive Unit immediately began tracking his whereabouts.

Thursday evening, Fugitive detectives found Rodriguez Alfaro at a business in the 1000 block of Elden Street in Herndon and took him into custody for the outstanding warrants. Detectives from our Major Crimes Bureau responded to further our investigation. He was taken to the Adult Detention Center and held without bond.

On Friday, detectives from the Herndon Police Department provided a video they received from a victim of an indecent exposure that occurred on Aug. 14 on a trail near Woodland Grove Place in Herndon. Detectives determined Rodriguez Alfaro approached the victim on the trail naked from the waist down, masturbated then ran.

Detectives executed a search warrant Friday at the home of Rodriguez Alfaro in Herndon. Evidence was collected to connect him to additional incidents that occurred on July 20 in the 2000 block of Monaghan Drive, Aug. 14 in the 12900 block of Centre Park Circle and Aug. 18 on the W&OD Trail over the Fairfax County Parkway. In these incidents, a man was seen naked and ran away. Following the search warrant, detectives charged Rodriguez Alfaro with three counts of indecent exposure. Since he was arrested, detectives obtained additional charges stemming from these incidents to include indecent exposure, peeping, unlawful entry and two counts of obscene sexual display.

Detectives continue to review evidence to confirm Rodriguez Alfaro’s involvement in other cases.
