FCPS Students from Fifteen High Schools Win Awards at Virginia DECA Conference, Earn a Trip to DECA International Conference
A total of 203 students from 15 Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) high schools were recognized as competitive event winners at the Virginia DECA State Leadership Conference held in Virginia Beach March 3-5. These students earned the right to compete at the DECA International Career Development Conference April 22-25.
One FCPS student was elected to state office: Shyla Menon of Fairfax High School was elected as vice president of Region 2.
Twenty-three students were named first place winners, 33 students earned second place awards, and 42 students placed third in their events.
Four students received scholarships: Nidha Padakanti from Chantilly High School received the Diane Tremblay Memorial Scholarship; Emma Eismeier from Lake Braddock Secondary School received the Virginia DECA Foundation Scholarship; Madison Judd from Lake Braddock Secondary School received the Elwood Roche Memorial Scholarship; and Camryn Owens from Lake Braddock Secondary School received the Hardees Scholarship.

DECA is a career and technical student organization that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs to be college- and career-ready.
