Fairfax County Public Schools announced on Mar. 17 that three of its teams and 33 individual student-athletes won the Virginia High School League (VHSL) Class 6 championship titles for the 2025-26 winter sports season, while three other teams and 34 individuals finished as state runners-up.
The announcement highlights the achievements of students across a range of sports, reflecting the district’s strong performance in athletics this year. The recognition includes both team and individual honors in disciplines such as basketball, swimming, diving, wrestling, gymnastics, indoor track and field, and rifle.
The championship-winning teams are Robinson Secondary School’s girls indoor track and field team, Langley High School’s boys swim and dive team, and Westfield High School’s boys basketball team. Individual champions include Addison Rowland from Robinson Secondary School in gymnastics (floor), Michael Santos from West Springfield High School in wrestling (113 pounds), Carter Shin from Chantilly High School in wrestling (120 pounds), Adrian Canales from Marshall High School in wrestling (132 pounds), Kross Cassidy from Fairfax High School in wrestling (165 pounds), Allison Hegg from Oakton High School in girls wrestling (126 pounds), Elaina Primozic from West Springfield High School in girls wrestling (185 pounds), among others across various events.
State runner-up teams include Robinson Secondary School for gymnastics and girls swim and dive, as well as Chantilly High School for boys swim and dive. Runner-up individuals represent a wide array of schools within the district competing at high levels across multiple events.
In addition to VHSL-sanctioned sports, West Springfield High School secured the Potomac High School Rifle League Regional Championship—a non-VHSL event—with Avana Harford winning individual first place at regionals. Robinson Secondary was runner-up both as a team and individually with Annika Cry finishing second.
The school division congratulated all state champions and runners-up for their accomplishments during the winter season.
