Three FCPS teams and 34 individuals win VHSL winter sports championships for 2025-26

Fairfax County Public Schools announced on Mar. 17 that three of its teams and 34 individual student-athletes won the Virginia High School League (VHSL) Class 6 championship titles during the 2026 winter sports season. Additionally, three teams and another group of 34 individuals from FCPS schools finished as state runners-up in their respective events.

The announcement highlights the achievements of students across a range of sports, including indoor track and field, swim and dive, wrestling, gymnastics, and rifle. The winning teams were Robinson Secondary School’s girls indoor track and field team, Langley High School’s boys swim and dive team, and Westfield High School’s boys basketball team.

Among the individual champions were Addison Rowland from Robinson Secondary School in gymnastics (floor), Michael Santos from West Springfield High School in wrestling (113 pounds), Carter Shin from Chantilly High School in wrestling (120 pounds), Adrian Canales from Marshall High School in wrestling (132 pounds), Kross Cassidy from Fairfax High School in wrestling (165 pounds), Allison Hegg from Oakton High School in girls wrestling (126 pounds), Elaina Primozic from West Springfield High School in girls wrestling (185 pounds), as well as several relay teams and swimmers representing various schools.

State runners-up included Robinson Secondary School’s gymnastics team, Robinson Secondary’s girls swim and dive team, Chantilly High School’s boys swim and dive team, along with numerous individual athletes who placed second in their events across multiple disciplines.

In addition to VHSL-sanctioned sports, West Springfield High School secured the Potomac High School Rifle League Regional Championship—a non-VHSL event—with Avana Harford winning first place individually at regionals. Robinson Secondary was runner-up both as a team and through Annika Cry’s individual performance.

The school division congratulated all student-athletes who participated during the winter season for their dedication and accomplishments.
