Voters in Virginia’s 11th Congressional District are set to select a new U.S. Representative on Tuesday, September 9. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m., and anyone in line by closing time will be allowed to vote.

Polling locations can be found using the Virginia Department of Elections Citizen Portal, Fairfax County’s My Neighborhood map, or by calling 703-222-0776 (TTY 711).

Same-day registration is available at polling places for those who still need to register. These voters will cast a provisional ballot.

Voters are encouraged to bring a valid photo ID if they have one. If not, they may complete an ID Confirmation Statement and still cast a regular ballot. Accepted IDs include a Virginia driver’s license—even if expired—a U.S. passport, or documents such as utility bills, bank statements, government checks, paychecks, or other government documents showing the voter’s name and address.

Mail ballots can be returned at any polling place within the district during voting hours or deposited in the drop box at the Fairfax County Government Center until 7 p.m. Ballots sent by mail must be postmarked by September 9 and received by noon on Friday, September 12.

Ballot tracking is available through https://fairfaxco.ballottrax.net/voter or voters can check their ballot status at https://ballot.elections.virginia.gov.

Curbside voting is offered for voters aged 65 and older or those with disabilities. All polling places provide accessible ballot marking devices and materials in English, Spanish, Vietnamese, and Korean.

The special election will fill the unexpired term for Virginia’s 11th Congressional District seat in the U.S. House of Representatives ending January 3, 2027.

For questions or further information, contact the Fairfax County Office of Elections at 703-222-0776 (TTY 711) or via email at voting@fairfaxcounty.gov during business hours Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
